Ulaanbaatar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a state dinner hosted by his Mongolian counterpart Chimed Saikhanbileg at his official residence, Ikh Tenger, here on Sunday.

"A special honour. PM Saikhanbileg hosts PM @narendramodi and Delegation at official residence Ikh Tenger for dinner," MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said on twitter.


The Mongolian Prime Minister, who wore a bandhgala at the event, thanked his Indian counterpart for accepting his invitation to visit the country, adding that his countrymen take immense pride in their long historic and cultural bonds with the people of India.

India as a sacred land of the Lord Buddha," said Prime Minister Saikhanbileg.


Prime Minister Modi, on his part, said that India and Mongolia share a relationship of immeasurable positive energy that comes from spiritual links and shared ideals.


"In less than 24 hours, we have experienced true friendship. We have seen rare grace and generosity of a great people. We have experienced the beauty of your land," said Prime Minister Modi.


"Ours is a relationship that is not measured on the scale of commerce or driven by competition against others. It is a relationship of immeasurable positive energy that comes from our spiritual links and shared ideals," he added.


Prime Minister Modi arrived in Ulaanbaatar today after a three-day visit to China. He will leave for South Korea, the last stop of his three-nation tour, on Monday morning.
