While calling Arvind Kejriwal as a 'psychopath Chief Minister', the former Rashtriya Janat Dal (RJD) leader said said the Delhi CM had introduced the scheme to gain “cheap popularity”.

Raising the odd-even traffic restrictions scheme during Zero Hour in Lower House, Pappu Yadav said it has only sought to help CNG companies and bus manufacturers.

Yadav cited a recent IIT-Kanpur study as revealing that pollution from cars was a mere five per cent.

He argued that the odd-even mechanism fails to address other issues concerning environment and means of travel which contribute 95 per cent to pollution. The Delhi government of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is not bothered about this, he alleged.

In the Rajya Sabha, Naresh Agrawal from (SP) made a strong pitch for exempting MPs from the scheme as has been done for some other sections, a view that found reasonance among most of parties as well as Deputy Chairman of the House P J Kurien.
