Lucknow: The new chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh Rahul Prasad Bhatnagar took charge on Tuesday even as his predecessor Deepak Singhal was in Noida, officials said.

Soon after assuming charge as the top bureaucrat of the state, Bhatnagar said he would try to complete the pending projects of the chief minister at the earliest.


"These projects have been rolled out with an aim to benefit the people and I will try and complete the dream projects of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav," he told reporters.


The 1983-batch official is known as a clean and suave man who believes in a low profile. He was till now Principal Secretary (Finance). 


Earlier on Tuesday, Deepak Singhal was removed from his post in a development that took many by surprise.
