A large swathe around the Pampore encounter site resounded with praise for 'mujahid' (holy warriors) from loudspeakers as Indian security forces fought terrorists holed up in a building for three days.

As per reports, mosques in several localities like Frestabal, Drangbal, Kadlabal and Sempora played songs and recordings on Monday praising the terrorists.

According to The Times of India, songs like 'Jaago, jaago subah hui' blared from the mosques' loudspeakers.

Slogans like 'Jivey, jivey Pakistan!' and 'Hum kya chahatey - azadi' could also be heard being raised from mosques.

While the terrorists were holed up in the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) building, across the rivulet youths assembled in hundreds and clashed with security forces. Reports said the youths were trying to cross the stream in a bid to disrupt the combat operation.

The development has come as a surprise for security forces as well as intelligence agencies.
