"The fact is the Prime Minister is not a victim of ideological intolerance. The unfortunate part is that he has been possibly the worst perpetrator of ideological violence. What you are seeing today is really the foundation of the Gujarat version 2.0.," Congress leader Manish Tewari told ANI.

"What they did in Gujarat in 2002, they want to repeat it all over the country and that is why you see the instrumentalities and the organizations of the RSS being used to keep the communal temperature above boiling point," he added.

In a Facebook blog post titled `Ease of Doing Business`, Jaitley had on Sunday said that since 2002, Prime Minister Modi has been "the worst victim of ideological intolerance".

He also stated that the government was trying to accelerate India's growth.

"There are many who have never intellectually accepted the idea of the BJP being in power. This obviously includes the Congress, Left thinkers and activists. Over decades they have practised ideological intolerance towards the BJP. Since 2002, the PM himself has been the worst victim of ideological intolerance," he said.
