New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries, who had gathered here on Thursday to be a part of Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar's 75th birthday celebrations, showered praises on the latter for his achievements.

Talking about the life and times of the former Maharashtra CM, PM Modi said, “When we closely observe Sharad Pawar's life, we see that he is revered all around.”


“It was Sharad Pawar who saved Mumbai from underworld and never hesitated. His commitment to his work is commendable. Even if he'll converse with you for ten minutes he would bring in conversation about farmers,” he added.

He further spoke about the 'visionary' Pawar, stating, “Sharadji has qualities of a farmer. The way a farmer can anticipate weather, he too can anticipate the ongoing wind in politics.”


Speaking on the occasion, Congress president Sonia Gandhi also praised Pawar for his leadership qualities.


“He was a chief minister for four times and is still remembered for his effective leadership,” she added.
