`PM Narendra Modi the most talked about person on Twitter`
Prime Minister Narendra Modi may have less followers on Twitter than Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, but the Bharatiya Janata Party leader is the most talked about person on the micro-blogging site in India.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi may have less followers on Twitter than Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, but the Bharatiya Janata Party leader is the most talked about person on the micro-blogging site in India.
According to data compiled by social media analytics firm Blueocean Market Intelligence, which was shared by The Economic Times, Modi was ahead with 34,16,000 tweets, followed by actor Salman Khan with 27,29,000.
The Cricket World Cup match between India and Pakistan had 17 lakh tweets, the Indian Premier League almost 15 lakh and the intolerance row 800,000.
From inviting US President Barack Obama as the Republic Day chief guest to launching campaigns such as Digital India and Swachh Bharat, the PM managed to generate positive chats on Twitter.
According to a list of the most followed Twitter personalities from India in 2015 released by the social media forum earlier this month, Big B's @SrBachchan account remains the most followed one with 18.6 million followers.
This year, Modi (@narendramodi) takes the third spot after the number of its followers quadrupled from four million when he took office last May to 17 million now, making him the biggest gainer on the top 10 list in 2015.
With 17,018,466 million followers, the Prime Minister is close to SRK who is number two on Twitter with 17,032, 866 followers.
