While there is no official word yet on the what transpired during the meeting, media reports claimed that the issue of radicalisation of Muslim youth was discussed during the meeting which was held at the home minister's residence.

The home minister requested the clerics to play a role in preventing the youth from taking the wrong path, reports added.

Rajnath Singh had recently met representatives of 13 security agencies of different states to discuss the alarming influence of Islamic State (IS) over youths through social media.

Earlier, Singh said that the Islamic State could not dominate in India due to the country’s “life values” and “family values”.

“Today the IS is being discussed a lot. But in the capacity of the Home Minister of India, I say that India is the only country where Muslim families stop their children when they get deviated from the right path. Only Indian Muslim families do this,” Rajnath said.
