Rahul dares Modi to jail him; rejects allegations against his family
Praising the Youth Congress workers, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said: `We have the experience and you have the enthusiasm, it is my job to combine the both.`
Delhi: Rejecting the allegations labelled against him and his family members as baseless, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday dared the BJP government to put him in jail and said that he has not done anything wrong.
Rahul said different allegations had been levelled at him but there was no truth in them. "Modiji, you have got agencies. Get investigations done. If you get anything in six months, put me in jail. The muck that you are throwing at me, at my family.... Send me to jail if I have done any wrong," he said.
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy alleged on Monday that Rahul Gandhi had declared himself a British citizen in the registration papers of a private company in London.
The Congress leader said he was not afraid of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
"I will fight for the farmers, for the labourers," he said, adding that he would continue to expose the government's failures.
Addressing a convention of the Indian Youth Congress here to mark the 98th birth anniversary of slain former prime minister Indira Gandhi, he said that his party has a good reason to oppose the BJP government and RSS, and the Bihar election result stands vindicated of the “people's support to our ideology”.
Rahul said the RSS and the BJP had been targeting his family including his slain grandmother and father. “Indira Gandhi believed in bringing people together, that is what we focus on doing. Not dividing people, that's what RSS does,” Rahul said here at a function of the Youth Congress to celebrate 98th birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi.
“People say we only have few MPs. If we only have a few MPs then how did we manage to stop the land acquisition bill?” Rahul said.
He said that the RSS and the BJP trigger riots but Congress provides succor, and “that is why our ideology won in Bihar,” the Congress vice president said.
Praising the Youth Congress workers, Rahul said “We have the experience and you have the enthusiasm, it is my job to combine the both.”
“Indira ji gave an identity to the Congress,” he said, expressing hope, that his party “will win coming elections too”.
