Second unit of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant to be synchronized with southern power grid
In Tamil Nadu, the second unit of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant will be synchronized with southern power grid by the end of this month, according to site director RS Sundar.
New Delhi: In Tamil Nadu, the second unit of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant will be synchronized with southern power grid by the end of this month, according to site director RS Sundar.
Addressing an event, he said that electricity generation for the third and fourth units will start by 2022.
The second unit of Kudankulam nuclear power plant attained criticality on July 10.
Power generation in the second unit is being increased from 230 megawatts to 300 megawatts and finally will attain the full capacity of 1000 megawatts.
The power generated will be synchronized with southern power grid by the end of this month.
The first unit of Kudankulam nuclear power plant was dedicated to the nation recently by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
At present, 1000 megawatts of electricity is being generated from the first unit.
Out of which 536 megawatt units of electricity is being given to Tamil Nadu.
Soil excavation works are going on for the third and fourth units in Kudankulam.
