New Delhi: Amid ongoing political crisis in Uttarakhand the recent memories of the Dehradun incident, where a police horse lost his leg due to the insensitivity of protesters, are likely to diminish with time. Uttarakhand police's horse Shaktiman had to be amputated after suffering multiple fractures in one of his legs.

In an almost similar incident, a police horse in Houston had lost his leg when he backed into the wheel well of a concrete truck. The horse named Charlotte was laid down on the road and euthanized on the scene.

While Officer Herrejon (Charlotte's partner) was being transported to the hospital, another officer, Ronald Curry laid her down and covered her face while she took her last breaths before being euthanized on the scene.

The photos posted by Animal Justice League about four months ago and photo caption read: "Yesterday, here in Houston, a police horse backed into the wheel well of a concrete truck and sustained a broken leg. While Officer Herrejon (Charlotte's partner) was being transported by ambulance to the hospital, another officer, Ronald Curry laid her down and covered her face while she took her last breaths before being euthanized on the scene."

The photo shows officer Ronald Curry comforting Charlotte by putting his arm around the animal's neck by laying down on the ground with the animal.
