Student killed by speeding lorry, father injured
One six-year-old child was killed and his father seriously injured when they were hit by a speeding lorry when they were trying to cross the road on way to school in central Kolkata this morning, police said.
Kolkata: One six-year-old child was killed and his father seriously injured when they were hit by a speeding lorry when they were trying to cross the road on way to school in central Kolkata this morning, police said.
Mohammed Aziz came under the wheels of the lorry and died on the spot and his father was injured while they tried to cross the Central Avenue and Ganesh Chandra Avenue at around 7.35am today, a senior officer of Burrabazar Police Station said.
Aziz a resident of Burrabazar and a student of St Stephen's was rushed to the Medical College where he was declared brought dead, he said.
The father's condition was stated to be 'critical'.
"There were four to five children with Aziz but they managed to cross the road. This is case of traffic violation on the road, he said.
The driver was arrested and the lorry was seized, he said.
