Swamy posted on the micro-blogging site Twitter: “Glad that Sunanda killer poison determination has been sent to FBI instead of to UK.”

Following is his tweet:

Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi had said on January 13 that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) would take a decision on which country the samples of Sunanda Pushkar's viscera will be sent, in the next two days.

"It (viscera) will be sent abroad, the decision will be taken in one or two days," he had told reporters outside Delhi Police Headquarters here, as per PTI.

Earlier, Delhi Police had registered a case of murder in connection with the death of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda under Section 302 of IPC on the basis of an AIIMS medical report that concluded that her death was unnatural and due to poisoning but did not reveal the nature and the quantity of the poison.

Pushkar was found dead in a Delhi hotel on January 17 last year

A Special Investigating Team has been formed to probe the case from scratch.

Bassi had said that it was necessary for them to file an FIR to be able to send viscera samples abroad to determine the nature and the quantity of the poison.

The police chief had maintained that their objective was to complete the investigation at the earliest as possible so that we can come to a logical conclusion.

Meanwhile, SIT, yesterday questioned the crew of a flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi in which former Union minister Shashi Tharoor and his wife had allegedly fought on January 15 last year, as per PTI.

During his questioning, Tharoor's domestic help Narayan Singh had told police that after landing at Delhi, Pushkar had called their family friend Sunil Trakru who had taken her to the five star hotel where she was found dead later.

Some of those questioned in the case so far include Narayan Singh, Tharoor's family friend Sanjay Dewan, the hotel doctor who pronounced her dead, hotel's staff including its manager.

On the other hand, in Kolkata yesterday, Tharoor lashed out at the media, saying he was being "defamed day in and day out" over the issue.

Tharoor, who refused to take any questions on the death regarding which Delhi Police filed a murder case last week, said the advent of 24/7 TV channels and the pressure of breaking news and TRPs has led to a race to the bottom in terms of sensation, voyeurism and headline grabbing.

"I have been misquoted in media, being defamed now day in and day out," the former Union Minister told reporters here, as per PTI.

Describing the media as "free and irresponsible", he said, "90 per cent of Indian journalists do not record what I am saying. Almost every quote attributed to me in the Indian media is an inadequate para-phrase by the journalist of what he thinks I said.

"My fluency is only valued to those who are actually hearing me. If tomorrow there is a newspaper article about this, I guarantee the quotes will be wrong."
