Subramanian Swamy wants Arvind Subramanian sacked, BJP says it`s his personal view
Swamy accused Arvind Subramanian of working against India`s interests and called for his sacking.
New Delhi: After launching a scathing attack on Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) Arvind Subramanian, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday met Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Though, the details of the meeting were not known, some reports suggested that Singh wanted to meet Subramanian to deliberate on the serious charges levelled by him against country's Chief Economic Advisor.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Shrikant Sharma said the party has nothing to do with Swamy's comments and it's his personal opinion.
Earlier today, Swamy, the newly appointed Rajya Sabha MP attacked Subramanian saying, “Who said to US Cong on 13/3/13 the US should act against India to defend US Pharmaceuticals interests? Arvind Subramanian MoF !! Sack him!!!"
"Guess who encouraged Congi to become rigid on GST clauses ? Jaitely's economic adviser Arvind Subramanian of Washington DC."
Earlier, Swamy said that Raghuram Rajan was a Congress agent and worked to put small and medium industries out of business.
The fireband BJP leader accused the outgoing RBI Governor of sabotaging the Indian economy.
In a series of letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Swamy had demanded sacking of Rajan, arguing that he is not "fully mentally Indian" and had been sending confidential and sensitive financial information around the world.
With Swamy calling for CEA's sacking, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said the real target was Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
“Subramaniam Swami now guns for Arvind Subramanian Economic Advisor to NDA. Target is Arun Jaitley not Arvind Subramanian,” Singh tweeted.
The senior Congress leader wondered whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi was readying to hand over the Finance portfolio to Swamy, who was recently appointed as a Rajya Sabha member.
