Srinagar: The terrorist who was captured alive on Tuesday during an encounter in Naugam sector near the LoC in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir is a Pakistani national from Lahore.

India Today quoted a news website as saying that he has been identified as Bahadur Ali.


Ali, 22, is said to be a trained Lashkar terrorist.


Further, the security forces reportedly recovered Rs 23,000 from him, three AK-47 rifles and two pistols.


The report quoted sources as saying that the government intends to use Ali's capture to expose Pakistan on infiltration into Kashmir.


Four militants were killed and Ali apprehended by security forces during an encounter in Naugam sector.


"Four terrorists have been killed while one has been apprehended alive during an operation in Naugam sector," an Army official had said on July 26, as per PTI. He had added that all the militants were foreign nationals.


Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju had said that the arrest of a terrorist was a 'big success' for security forces as it brought in open the game plan of Pakistan.


"Catching a terrorist alive is a big success as it brings in open the game plan of Pakistan. The arrest of terrorist in Kupwara is a big achievement of security forces," he had told reporters in New Delhi.
