He built a 500 metre high ladder with fireworks into the sky in Quanzhou, as per a report in an international daily.

The staircase was made by the artist with metal wire and aluminum.

He also filled it with gunpowder.

This then was attached to a hot air balloon, which was made with special material.

It is said that Guoqiang took 21 years to plan and build the ladder which lasted only 80 seconds.

He launched it off a boat from an island.

Incidentally, the Chinese artist is reported to be the same who designed the amazing fireworks for the opening ceremony of 2008 Beijing Olympics.
