NC protests outside J&K Assembly, demands suspension revoked on 4 MLAs
The Opposition National Conference (NC) on Wednesday refused to participate in the functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly until the suspension of four of their MLAs is revoked.
Srinagar: The Opposition National Conference (NC) on Wednesday refused to participate in the functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly until the suspension of four of their MLAs is revoked.
"We are not allowed to speak in the house. Every issue is being covered in the name of sub-judice. We are forced to sit out of the house of helplessness. We won't enter the house until the suspensions on four of our members are revoked," former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah told the media here.
"From last two days there was a protest in the house because the opposition parties were not allowed to speak" he added.
Omar further accused the assembly speaker and the council chairman of acting against them as per a 'pre-planned plot to split the opposition'.
"The NC and the Congress members both protested in the assembly, but only the members of the NC were suspended in assembly and the counsel. They aim to divide the opposition," Omar said.
The NC had earlier announced to boycott rest of the autumn session of Assembly and Council after the Presiding Officers of both the Houses suspended their four lawmakers as opposition protests rocked the Houses, witnessing chaotic scenes.
