Dumka: Three hard-core Naxalites including a couple have been arrested from Shikaripara police station limits of this district, police today said.

Acting on a tip off that 20-year-old hardcore Naxalite Chota Vimal alias Vimal Hembram arrived at his native place in Dharampur under Shikaripara police station, a police team along with Jharkhand Jaguar and SSB personnel conducted raid in the village and arrested him on Monday, Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar told a press conference here.


Kumar said the police team also conducted a raid in Bankipur village under the same police station today and picked up Diwan Singh (27) and his wife Shanti Devi, who were on a visit to their native place, following leads provided by Vimal during police interrogation.


All the three Naxals were named accused in various Maoist- related incidents in the district, he said, adding that Vimal was allegedly involved in the killing of Pakur Superintendent of Police Amarjeet Balihar under Kathikund police station of the district on July 2, 2013.


Balihar was killed in an ambush while he was returning to Pakur after attending a meeting convened by Santal Paragana DIG Priya Dubey.


Vimal, who was a named accused in nine Naxal-related violence in the district, had allegedly played an important role in the killing of Balihar.


Diwan had been involved in three cases under Shikaripara police station while his wife was an accused in two cases, he said adding that their operation ranged from Giridih district to Dumka.
