Kozhikode: With the announcement of candidates for the Vadakara and Elathur assembly constituencies in the district today, Janata Dal (United) has finalised its nominees for the seven seats the party is contesting in the May 16 assembly polls in Kerala.

The party has been allotted seven seats as per the seat sharing agreement between the partners of the United Democratic Front (UDF) led by the Congress.


The JD(U) parliamentary board which met here yesterday announced the nomination of five candidates, who included M V Sreyams Kumar(sitting MLA of Kalpetta in Wayanad district), K P Mohanan, lone representative in the outgoing UDF ministry, from Koothuparamba and K P Prasanth from Mattanur (both in Kannur district), Sheikh P Haris (Ambalappuzha in Alappuzha dt)and Surendran Pillai (Nemam in Thiruvananthapuram district).


Manayath Chandran has been fielded from Vadakara constituency while P Kishan Chand nominated to contest from Elathur segment.
