14 people absolved of the charge of working for SIMI
Fourteen people were absolved of the charge of working for banned Students` Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) but five out of them were sentenced to more than three years of imprisonment and fined Rs 2,000 each under Arms Act.
Khandwa: Fourteen people were absolved of the charge of working for banned Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) but five out of them were sentenced to more than three years of imprisonment and fined Rs 2,000 each under Arms Act.
Additional Sessions Judge A Singh awarded three years of imprisonment to Wajid Shafi, Raqeeb Khan, Khalil, Abdullah Hussain and Babu Dominic under Arms Act.
The police had claimed that it had arrested them as well as recovered arms and ammunition from them, besides SIMI literature from them during a raid on a house at Gulmohar Colony on June 13, 2011.
The police had also claimed that they held a meeting to carry out a violent incident.
Two accused wanted in the case are absconding while the main accused is being tried separately.
