Panchayat official booked for raping woman in MP
A woman was allegedly raped on the pretext of marriage by a village panchayat official here, police said Thursday.
Tikamgarh: A woman was allegedly raped on the pretext of marriage by a village panchayat official here, police said Thursday.
In a complaint filed two days back, the woman alleged that Chomokhas village panchayat secretary Komal Yadav developed close relations with her and raped her a number of times on the promise of marrying her, Prithvipur police station in-charge Laxman Prasad Yadav said.
However, later the accused married another woman following which the victim filed a police complaint against him, he said.
A case under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 452 of the IPC has been registered against Yadav, he said, adding that the efforts were on to nab the accused.
