New Delhi: Reacting after Aam Aadmi Party won the trust vote in the Delhi Assembly on Thursday, social activist Anna Hazare said that they were taking the right steps and had a long way to go.
As per a news agency, Anna said that he had already said that AAP would get the trust vote. “They are taking the right steps and they have a long way to go,” he said.
Before the vote of confidence, Anna had said that he was confident that Kejriwal-led AAP government would win the trust vote in the Delhi state Assembly.
"I am confident that Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP Government will win the trust vote. If the Congress withdraws support, it will send a wrong message," Hazare had said. AAP won the trust vote today after Arvind Kejriwal delivered an emotional speech, saying that they were committed to working for the people and also that the corrupt would not be spared.
Kejriwal became the seventh and the youngest Chief Minister of Delhi. The trust vote was won with outside support of the Congress party.
The AAP stunned everyone with their spectacular performance in their first outing and won 28 seats in the Delhi Assembly polls. The BJP won 31 and SAD bagged 01 seats in the 70 member House. The BJP told the LG that they could not prove majority on the floor of the House, when invited to form the government. The numbers needed was 36.
The Congress, on the other hand, offered outside support to the AAP to form the government in Delhi. The AAP went to the people and sought their opinion on whether they should go with the Congress.
After the survey, they announced that they would form the government in Delhi as the people wanted them to.
