Nashik (Maharashtra): A 38-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his house at Ambegoan village in the district, police said today.

Balu Avhad, an onion grower, took the extreme step yesterday, an official attached with Yeola police station said.


He had taken a loan of Rs two lakh from his kin and was unable to pay it back. The drought-like conditions also added to his plight. Prima facie, it was due to these reasons that he decided to take the extreme step, the official said.


According to police, a case has been registered in this connection and investigations are underway.
