Meghalaya Assembly today passed a bill for efficient delivery of public services in a transparent way through social audit and to ensure course correction as a programme/scheme is being implemented.
Shillong: Meghalaya Assembly today passed a bill for efficient delivery of public services in a transparent way through social audit and to ensure course correction as a programme/scheme is being implemented.
The Meghalaya Community Participation and Public Service Social Audit Bill 2017, presented by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, would facilitate setting up of a social audit council.
The social audit council will be tasked with establishing a systematic concurrent audit system, review the monitoring and grievance redressal mechanism and recommend improvements required.
Midday meal schemes, community and rural development, security, roads and transport, water, employment health and power departments will be subjected to regular social auditing, the Bill stated.
