A statement from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the move will pave way for the overall development of the place of historic importance.

Last month, the National Textile Corporation (NTC) had given permission to the state government to start construction of the Ambedkar memorial.

Importantly, the government had earlier granted 'A' class pilgrimage and tourist destination status to 'Deekshabhoomi' in Nagpur where Ambedkar along with his followers embraced Buddhism in 1956.
