Mumbai: A special CBI court on Wednesday rejected the application of former media baron Peter Mukerjea, one of the accused in the sensational Sheena Bora murder case, seeking permission for travel to Bengaluru for his niece's wedding but allowed him to attend it through video conference.
Special judge HS Mahajan rejected the application after the CBI told the court that he can even attend the marriage ceremony through a video link.
"However, if Peter intends, in that circumstances, at the state's cost, by the way of video conferencing and in the presence of jail officials, he be permitted to convey his blessing to his family members on the day and time (of the wedding)," the judge said in the order.
Meanwhile, the court also disposed of his another application seeking a laptop without an Internet connection, saying the jail authorities may make arrangements as per the jail manual.
Peter had sought permission to use a laptop in jail as he wanted to write his autobiography.
The court is likely to hear arguments on framing of charges in the Sheena Bora murder case on December 19.
Peter's wife Indrani, her former driver Shyamvar Rai (who has turned approver in the case) and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna are accused of killing her daughter Sheena inside a car in April 2012. Peter is accused of being party to the conspiracy.
