New Delhi: India is all set to vote for a new government at the Centre. Will the BJP-led NDA come back to power at the Centre after a decade or can the Congress-led UPA hold on to power are the hottest topics of debate in the country. To gauge the mood of the nation and to assess as to which party may emerge as the winner on May 16, Zee News commissioned a survey through TALEEM research foundation.
As per the survey, the BJP is projected to get 37.9 percent of vote share, whereas the Congress is expected to get 20.3 percentage of vote share. As far as the seats are concerned, the BJP is expected to get between 202 to 211 seats, the Congress 107-11, whereas the Third Front and the regional parties may garner between 83-115 seats. BJP was voted lowest in South region (20.0 percent) and highest in Central region (51.3 percent), where it is currently running government in several states. Educated voters seemed to prefer to vote for BJP (43.7 percent).
Marginally, more women than men voters continued to support INC. Educated voters seemed to have been most disenchanted with INC and recorded only 15.0 percent preference for INC. So was the case with “service and business” class voters (18.5 percent). The poor third preference (3.1 percent) was BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party), most active in Uttar Pradesh while 2.1 percent voters favoured TDP (Telugu Desam Party), confined to Andhra Pradesh.

AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) seemed to have gained ground in almost all states especially in North region comprising of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi and Uttarakhand.
As many as 2.9 percent voters would vote for AAP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, as per the survey.
As many as 34.2 percent voters were of the view that BJP would form the next government. As opposed to this figure, only 24.0 percent voters indicated that Congress and its allies would form the government. Only 8.2 percent voters were of the view that Third Front of regional parties alliance could form the government. When asked “In your opinion who would be best Prime Minister?”, as many as 46.1 percent respondents voted for Narendra Modi, while 21.2 percent voted for Rahul Gandhi. Other names mentioned by small number of voters were Arvind Kejriwal (4.2 percent), Mayawati (2.9 percent), Mulayam Singh Yadav (2.2 percent) and Mamata Banerjee (2.0 percent).


Lal Krishna Advani emerged as second best option for Prime Minister, if not Narendra Modi, according to 34.5 percent voters. He was followed by Sushma Swaraj (16.9 percent) and Rajnath Singh (13.3 percent). Several other names were mentioned including Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh (5.9 percent) and Arun Jaitley, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha (3.8 percent).
