Washington: Greeting India ahead of the Republic Day, a top US lawmaker on Saturday said the two countries are natural allies that share a commitment to democracy. "Our countries are natural allies, sharing a commitment to democracy, religious pluralism, and the rule of law," Senator John Cornyn said in a statement on the eve of Republic Day.
Cornyn is co-founder of the Senate India Caucus and serves on the Finance and Judiciary Committees. He is the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee`s Immigration, Refugees and Border Security subcommittee. "As the co-founder of the Senate India Caucus, I am grateful for the many opportunities I have to foster the important relationship between our countries and for the input and perspective I receive from dynamic Indian-American leaders in Texas," Cornyn said.
