New Delhi: To bridge the gap between jobs available in the rural India and the country`s skilled workforce a Bhopal based organisation has launched a rural job portal.
The vocational education, services and e-governance network, AISECT which has been working in the area of skill development and rural empowerment since the last 28 years has recently launched a job portal RojgarMantra.Com.
"We have already trained over 1.2 million people across the country and have partnered with the Central and State governments for numerous skill enhancement and capacity building projects at grass root level," says Pallavi Rao Chaturvedi, Director, AISECT. The portal aims to provide employers access to lakhs of students trained in the fields of retail, textile, agriculture allied sectors, as well as education. It also aims to provide job seekers a vast pool of jobs along with mantras to guide them to a dream job.
"So far, we have 2 lakh applicants registered with the portal and over the next 5 years, we are planning to have over 10 lakh job seekers and an equal number of jobs registered with the portal," says Chaturvedi. The recruiters registered with Rojgar Mantra are a mix of national level corporate giants as well as small local players. Also with Government`s digitisation projects across all departments, there are job opportunities for entry level IT professionals in rural region.
"I agree that round-the-clock accessibility to computers and internet in rural India is limited. However, we have tried to make the entire process of accessing the portal as simplified as possible. We have established 1000 Employment Exchange centres across various states where job seekers can have access to the portal," says Chaturvedi.
The portal focuses on filling local, entry level job requirements of private and public enterprises at the town, district and block levels and is currently focusing on Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Orissa, Gujarat and Punjab.
"Subsequently, our efforts will also be replicated in other states," says the director.
A job seeker Dev Kishan from Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh who has recently landed a job through the site says, "The job portal has really helped me. Even though I have not received a joining date as of now but I am happy that I have got a decent job."
Kishan, a graduate from a local college says he was approached by official from the portal to apply for a job.
Similalry Shailendra Jatav, Govind Raiger and Anil Arya who are from the same town and have landed jobs for Rs 10,000 for a month.
"Since we are looking at fulfilling the recruiters` demand for entry level jobs, the salary offered to the candidates would be anywhere from 7,000 to 25,000 per month," says Chaturvedi.
Currently, opportunities available in the unorganized sector include job of a cashier, data-entry operator, toll tax collector, sales representative, marketing executive, peon, tally operator etc.
Apart from providing placement assistance, the job portal also seeks to address the gap of placement preparation which currently prevalent in the rural job market.
Thus miscellaneous services like resume creation, interview preparation, counseling and personality grooming as well as tips for a successful conversion are all part of the activities of the portal.
"We plan to organise multiple Rojgar Melas at district and block levels across various states in a couple of months. In each state, we plan to partner with over 100 companies so that they can participate in these melas and select candidates for their requirements across various departments," says Chaturvedi.
