LeT suspects Abdul Subhan, Asahbuddin sent to police custody
Suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operatives Abdul Subhan and his nephew Asahbuddin, arrested for their alleged roles in conspiring to carry out terror strikes in Delhi and adjoining areas, were on Thursday remanded to five-day police custody by a court.

Subhan and Asahbuddin were produced before the court from judicial custody in pursuance to the production warrants issued against them yesterday.
Special Cell of Delhi Police moved an application seeking eight days police custody of the duo on the ground that they have to be confronted with co-accused Arshad Khan who was arrested yesterday after being produced before the court from Kolkata Jail.
The police told the court that they were required to be confronted with Arshad, who was yesterday remanded to police custody till August 21, to know about the penetration of LeT in Delhi and other parts of the country.
"To unearth the whole conspiracy for executing a terrorist strike in Delhi and neighbouring areas by these accused persons and to know the penetration of LeT in Delhi and other parts of India, all the three accused are to be confronted with each other," the police said while seeking eight days police custody of both the accused.
Advocate Akram Khan, who appeared for both Subhan and Asahbuddin, opposed the plea saying they have already been interrogated at length earlier by the police.
Additional Sessions Judge Reetesh Singh granted police custody of the two accused till August 19.
Pakistani national Arshad Khan, who was lodged in Kolkata jail in connection with the shoe baron Partha Roy Burman kidnapping case of 2001, was yesterday produced before the court.
The Governor appreciated the good work done by the agencies involved in clearing the 2-3 feet deep snow accumulation at Sheshnag Yatra Camp site along the traditional 45-km Pahalgam-cave route which made it possible to start the Yatra from July 2 onwards. The yatra started as per the schedule from the shorter 16-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district on June 28. The post yatra review meetings have been convened every year, for the past five years, immediately after the culmination of the Yatra, with a view to bringing about progressive improvements in the management of the coming Yatras, based on the experiences gained and feedback gathered.
The Governor presented certificates and mementoes to each of the officers attending the meeting, as a token of the Board`s appreciation and thanks for their valuable support for the smooth conduct of the current year`s Yatra, an official spokesman said.
He said the issues which were reviewed during the meeting included bringing further improvements in the existing system of registration of yatris and assess control measures at the Chandanwari and Domel Access Control Gates, functioning of medical aid centres, sanitation arrangements at the various Camp locations, functioning of Langars and other services.
Other issues that came under discussion included operation of helicopter services, services rendered by BSNL, disaster management arrangements, services rendered by various other departments and agencies and the scope for improvements therein, the spokesman said.
