New Delhi: Former managing editor of Tehelka Shoma Chaudhury on Thursday tendered an apology to the Nation Commission for Women (NCW) for alleged "lapses" in handling the case of alleged sexual assault of the magazine’s journalist by its former editor Tarun Tejpal. Former Tehelka managing editor also assured the NCW that she will fully cooperate with the investigation.
Though Chaudhury apologised for "lapses" in handling the case of alleged sexual assault of Tehelka journalist, the Commission was not satisfied with her reply over the matter.
"There has been a lapse, she (Shoma) did not act the way she should have. She has apologised," said, Shamina Shafiq, NCW member.
According to reports, the NCW has also sought all documents from Goa police relating to the sexual assault case against Tejpal. Chaudhury also sought police protection after BJP workers led by Vijay Jolly protested outside her South Delhi residence.
Earlier this morning, Chaudhury also resigned as the managing editor of Tehelka in view of her criticism over alleged cover up on the matter.
