Telangana fallout: As it happened on Monday

9.00 pm: Congress MPs from Telangana — Ponnam Prabhakar and Sircilla Rajaiah — have alleged that Andhra PRadesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress leader Jaganmohan Reddy are instigating violence in Seemandhra region by changing their stand on Telangana. They also sent copies of Indian Constitution to Naidu and Reddy to "make them understand" and counter their argument that the Centre`s decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh was "unconstitutional".
8.30 pm: Congress skirted questions on the possibility of imposition of President`s rule in Andhra Pradesh. "Such time has not come, we will think about it when the situation arises," Congress spokesman Bhakt Charan Das. He also accused YSR Congress leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu of playing politics on the issue by opposing a separate Telangana now after coming out with unqualified support earlier.
7.30 pm: Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde has expressed concern over Seemandhra protests and appealed to people to create environment for healthy dialogue. Shinde says he is confident of achieving amicable solution that safeguards people of all regions in Andhra Pradesh.
7.00 pm: Talking to a news channel, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy said that as per Constitution only after resolution is discussed and passed in the state Assembly can the division be done. And said that he has been trying to convince Rahul and Sonia Gandhi against the creation of Telangana.
6.45 pm: Chandrababu Naidu is joined on the dais at Andhra Bhavan (Delhi) by JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav.
6.20 pm: Seemandhra MP Daggubati Purandeswari after the meeting at 7, RCR, told scribes that the ministers from Andhra Pradesh informed Prime Minister about the situtation in the state. She and the three other ministers (Surya Prakash Reddy, Chiranjeevi and Pallam Raju) requested him to accept their resignation, reiterating that they will not be able continue as ministers of his cabinet.
5.40 pm: Senior BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman blames Congress for the Telangana mess, and says, "Congress is unable to do anything smoothly and has led Andhra to such a chaos.

3.15 pm:Home Minister Sushil Shinde will also meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh just before the Telangana meeting. The 10-member GoM has to give its report within six weeks so that the Bill on the new state could be tabled in Parliament in the winter session.

9.45 am: Chandrababu Naidu begins his fast even before arriving in Delhi. “Already I have started my fasting. From 8.30 onwards I’m fasting. Since last two days I’m eating fruits as I was preparing to be on fast,” he told a news channel.
9.15 am: Before leaving for Delhi, the TDP chief said, "The (Telangana) decision is national match-fixing. Congress didn`t follow any procedures. They only want to take political advantage."
8.45 am: Telegu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu set to leave for Delhi to begin an indefinite hunger strike to protect the interests of people from Seemandhra.
Earlier, Naidu has accused the Congress of "ruining" the country and leaving Andhra Pradesh facing a "disaster" with the separate Telangana decision.
With TDP jumping into the issue to deny Jaganmohan Reddy the sole credit for voicing the concerns of the people from Seemandhra, the Andhra Pradesh bifurcation issue is threatening to go out of control.
Massive protests that have broken out in the Seemandhra region. Almost the entire region comprising coastal and Rayalaseema parts of the state are on the boil ever since the UPA cabinet cleared the formation of Telangana as the country’s 29th state.
Vizianagaram town near Vishakhaptnam is fast emerging as the epicentre of anti-Telangana movement after protestors resorted to large scale violence in the town. Properties owned by Andhra Pradesh Congress chief Botsa Satyanarayana in the town have been particularly attacked by the rioters. Authorities have clamp curfew and issued shoot-at-sight orders to quell violence.
20 policemen are among those injured in the violence, reports said.
Other cities in the region like Vishakhapatnam, Vijaywada, Ongloe and Tirupati are also tense given the strong anti-bifurcation sentiment in the people.
Power supply hit
Following a strike by the employees of power corporations in Seemandhra region, most parts of the state, including capital Hyderabad, have plunged into darkness. Six of the seven units of the power plant in Vijayawada that produced 1700 MW have shut putting the southern grid at strain.
Power supply to Tirumala was also severed but later restored following talks with striking employees.
Production at Kadapa and Srisailam units was also hit. Andhra Pradesh requires 5000 MW of power daily.
Jaganmohan Reddy’s fast enters third day
YSR Congress leader Jagan Mohan Reddy’s indefinite fast against the creation of Telangana entered the third day on Monday. He is on an indefinite strike in Hyderabad since Saturday to protest against the Centre`s decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to the media at the fast venue in Hyderabad, Jagan alleged that AICC president Sonia Gandhi wanted to make her son Rahul Gandhi the prime minister and has divided the state in order to get more votes and seats.
“Sonia Gandhi is responsible for the crisis in the state and she has been playing with the sentiments of the people with the singular motive of seeing to it that her son Rahul Gandhi is made prime minister,”? Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged.
