London: Millions of Android users have been "deceived" by a developer, who gathered their personal data through free flashlight app, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) said.

GoldenShores Technologies collected unique ID and location data from millions of Brightest Flashlight app users and shared it with ad networks without users` knowledge that their data was compromised, the BBC reports. The company has now signed a settlement deal, which tightens up its privacy policy, and give users more control over what happens to their data, the report added. The company has agreed to no longer misrepresent its process of gathering users` data and delete all the data it previously gathered from those who downloaded the app.
