New Delhi: Facebook will soon shut down its seven-month old Notify app that allowed its users to get timely notification about news and other sections.

As per Tech Crunch reports, Facebook today sent an alert to its users stating that “Thanks for using Notify. We’re transitioning parts of Notify into other Facebook products, and the app will no longer be supported.”

The social media giant is now planning to utilize the technology that powers Notify into its other services like Messenger.

"Starting on Wednesday, we will begin integrating Notify functionality into other Facebook products, like Messenger, and will be removing Notify from the App Store," a Facebook spokesperson said.

When the app was launched in last November, about 70 companies like The New York Times, The Washington Post, Groupon etc partnered with Facebook to give real-time push notification about the latest happenings of the world.

Notify's least popularity among users is the main reason of termination.
