Washington: Google was trying to get hold of the word `glass`, when written in Google`s stylized marketing logo font, to restrain other companies to copy their computer-enabled eyeglass.
According to Cnet, trade-marking a common term as `Glass` raises some issues, although they have allowed trademark of `Google Glass`.
Trademark office sent a letter to Google stating that `Glass` is a generic term and they cannot allow them to trademark it, to which Google replied with a 1928 page letter explaining their case. Though other companies have managed to obtain trademarks for some commonly used terms, for instance, Facebook holds the trademark for words like `Face` and `wall`, Trademark office have not allowed Google to trademark `Glass`.
