New Delhi: Popular software giant, Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella, who was in India for a one-day visit, selected Varanasi for experimenting technology pilot for the ambitious Digital India programme.

According to The Hindu report, Microsoft has chosen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency of the holy city of Varanasi as the venue for a project to fund local entrepreneurs aiming to build devices that can overcome India’s bandwidth crunch, Nadella was quoted as saying.

Microsoft will be working on two pilot projects in India to provide low-cost Internet to villages, reportedly. One project is a government school in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh and the other is Varanasi, suggests report.
