More than half of global urban population have no wifi access: Study
A recent study revealed a shocking fact that nearly 57% of the city-dwellers worldwide have zero access to wifi connections. The study conducted by Maravedis Rethink on behalf of Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) highlighted that 37% of these disconnected population lives in wealthiest cities of the world, as per TeleAnalysis reports.

The study conducted by Maravedis Rethink on behalf of Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) highlighted that 37% of these disconnected population lives in wealthiest cities of the world, as per TeleAnalysis reports.
The aim of this global report was to identify the number of unconnected citizens in the urban cities of both developed and developing nations.
The region-wise data shows that 68% of urban population in Asia-Pacific and 55% of urban North American population have no access to the internet.
Europe has the lowest percentage of urban population unconnected at 17% while the Middle East and Africa has the highest proportion of urban unconnected citizens at 82%.
London is the most connected major global city (only eight percent not-connected), while Lagos is the least connected city (with 88.3%).
The lack of urban wifi connectivity can be attributed to a number of technological and political challenges, from low levels of income to the high cost of fixed and mobile services.
