The parleys were held under cordial atmosphere and both the sides agreed to hold a second round of talks in September, Additional Secretary for Home Lalbiakzama, who headed the government delegation, told PTI.

Lalbiakzama said both sides were sincere to bring about permanent solution to the problem of insurgency in the northeastern part of the state adjoining Manipur.

Formed soon after the Mizoram government and the HPC signed an agreement in 1994, the HPC(D) has been indulging in a plethora of violent and illegal activities in the state.

The outfit has been demanding a separate autonomous district council under the sixth schedule of the Constitution by carving out areas adjoining Manipur.
