Border Securiy Force officials said flags of both countries were being lowered at the border gates in a low-key affair.

The ceremony, carried out by border guards of India and Pakistan, the BSF and Pakistan Rangers with military pomp and show at the checkpost at sunset every evening, was cancelled by the BSF on Thursday.

Public is not being allowed to go near the post. The BSF and district authorities have asked visitors and tourists not to move towards Attari, 30 km from here, for the ceremony.

The 30-minute ceremony is watched by hundreds from both countries daily.

BSF officials will review the situation on October 2 regarding revival of the ceremony.
