Chandigarh: Heatwave swept most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, with maximum temperatures hovering over the 40 degrees Celsius mark. Sizzling heat prevailed in Chandigarh, which recorded a maximum temperature of 41.5 degrees Celsius, up three notches than normal, the MeT report said. In Punjab, blistering heat prevailed in Ludhiana, which recorded a maximum of 43.5 degrees Celsius, up four notches, while Amritsar sizzled at 43.2 degrees Celsius. Haryana too experienced sweltering heat as Hisar recorded 43.6 degrees Celsius, up three notches, while Ambala`s maximum settled at 40 degrees Celsius.
