Switching sides! 21 AAP members from Punjab join Congress
Also at the same event, 34 Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) members and SAD `supporters` have joined Congress.
Sangrur (Punjab): A day after a senior Congress leader from Punjab joined the Aam Aadmi Party, 21 members of the Kejriwal-led AAP on Saturday pledged their allegiance with the Congress – a process of realignment which is likely to continue ahead of the crucial state assembly polls in 2017.
On Friday, firebrand Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira joined the Aam Aadmi Party in a major setback for the Punjab Congress.
Khaira has been one of the most vociferous voices against the SAD-BJP government. On joining the AAP, Khaira said that he had taken the decision as he was not happy with the policies of the Congress.
He also called Amarinder Singh a “tainted and corrupt” leader.
The 21 AAP members on Saturday joined the Congress in the presence of former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh.
Also at the same event, 34 Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) members and SAD ‘supporters’ have joined Congress.
