“As Mashable continues to grow in parallel with the expansion of digital, entering into India was an obvious next-step. Digital and technology continue to have a profound impact on the world’s largest democracy and Mashable will look to chronicle this transformation in unique ways that truly resonate with the Connected Generation,” said Pete Cashmore, Founder and CEO of Mashable. “We’re extremely excited to be linking up with Penske Media and the team at India.com, with their expertise in producing premium localized content we feel they’re the perfect partner to ensure that Mashable India will be an incredible success.”

The partnership brings Mashable together with India.com Web Portal Ltd., a joint venture between Penske Media Corporation (PMC) and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. This new online destination will bring together Mashable's mission of inspiring and informing its global community about how digital and technology are changing the world with India.com's strength in generating original content for Indian audiences and widespread reach in the Indian digital space. India.com Web Portal currently publishes original content destinations that include BGR.in, CricketCountry.com, BollywoodLife.com, TheHealthSite.com, Prepsure.com, BrownPaperBag.in, and traffic-leading portal India.com – all together India.com properties reach out to over 45 million unique visitors per month.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Mashable as we continue to expand the PMC and ZEE alliance in the India digital industry. The company’s phenomenal growth is a testament to the incredible team and leadership in India, and we’re confident that Mashable’s addition now quickens the ascendance of this enterprise,” said PMC Chairman and CEO Jay Penske. “With Mashable's focus on digital innovation and its social media relevance, Mashable India will undoubtedly become the nation’s leader in this rapidly expanding, technology-focused marketplace.”

Mashable India will have an editorial team based in India for localized content to serve the ever growing and connected Indian audiences. Mashable will offer the best global coverage from Mashable.com and augment it with extensive editorial coverage from India. Mashable India will also leverage the audience reach of India.com network properties.

“We believe that the combination of Mashable and India.com will provide a unique content destination curated for India's fast growing online generation,” said Punit Goenka, MD & CEO, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. “We look forward to working with the Mashable team around the world to create a truly world-class and innovative site at Mashable India.”

The addition of Mashable India will continue Mashable’s global expansion, which began last year with the opening of a UK office, while also adding reporters in Australia and building a strong network of global journalists. Approximately half of Mashable’s 42 million monthly unique visitors come from outside the US, with India being a top five market for the company.
