It seems the app is secretly taking the world by storm with its unique feature – better health – becoming the world's newest fitness phenomenon.

Unlike most video games, Pokémon Go literally requires players to move around to advance their in-game progress, thereby improving their health.

Built on Niantic’s Real World Gaming Platform, Pokémon GO uses real locations to encourage players to search far and wide in the real world to discover Pokémon.

“Pokémon GO allows you to find and catch more than a hundred species of Pokémon as you explore your surroundings,” The Pokémon Company wtites in its official site.

Pokémon Go, a free-to-play location-based augmented reality mobile game, was initially released in July 2016 for iOS and Android devices, starting with the United States and Australasia, with Asian and European releases to follow. The game makes use of GPS and the camera of compatible devices.

Pokémon GO is available for download at no charge on the App Store and Google Play.
