Kathmandu: At least 15 people were killed and about 40 others injured today when a bus headed towards the capital skidded off a hilly road and plunged into a gorge in central Nepal.
The accident happened at Bhotang area, 150 kilometre east of Kathmandu, when the passenger bus, heading towards Kathmandu from Sindhupalchowk district, skidded off the hilly road. Thirty eight people were injured in the accident as the bus plunged 150 metres down into a gorge at 10:30 am (local time), police said. Among the injured about 24 people were seriously injured and have been airlifted to Kathmandu in an Army helicopter, they said. The reason of the accident is not yet known.
