Bugti was travelling to the Sui area when he was attacked.

The Dawn quoted Dera Bugti`s Assistant Commissioner, Javed Naveed Khosa, as saying that Home minister Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti and members of his convoy remained unhurt and had reached Sui safely.

According to sources, Bugti was returning to Sui after distributing appointment letters to 70 Levies personnel in Dera Bugti when he was targeted.

The armed men opened fire on the convoy carrying the Bugti to Sui, in Pash-Bogi area between Sui and Dera Bugti and escaped after security personnel counter fire them.

Soon after the incident the security personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

The attack on Bugti was the second one over a month. Bugti survived a landmine explosion on January 22, while returning to his hometown, Baker, after a hunting trip.
