Pakistan military, not Nawaz Sharif authorised to hold talks: Taliban
The statement by the Taliban comes as PM Nawaz Sharif is set to meet Indian PM Manmohan Singh in New York today on the sidelines of UN General Assembly.

Islamabad: Reiterating their denial to lay down arms, militant outfit Pakistani Taliban on Sunday said that it was Pakistani military that was authorized to hold talks with them, and not Nawaz Sharif, the Geo News reported.
In an interview to the Pakistani news channel Geo TV, Thereik-e-Taliban spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said that the PM Sharif had lost his authority to hold talks when he talked about the “preconditions”.
“When he was in Pakistan he was saying one thing, now when he has gone to America he is talking about preconditions for talks,” said the spokesperson. The statement by the Taliban comes as PM Nawaz Sharif is set to meet Indian PM Manmohan Singh in New York today on the sidelines of UN General Assembly.
In order for the peace talks to begin, the TTP spokesman put forth demands like Pakistan Army’s withdrawal from the restive tribal regions and release of militants.
The Pakistani Taliban also demanded the drone strikes must stop and slammed PM Nawaz Sharif again for his inability to stop the attacks on his own. The spokesperson claimed that if the PM had any authority he wouldn’t request the US to stop the drone attacks but do it on his own.
