In a message to Indian Space Research Organisation chairman A.S. Kiran Kumar, Mukherjee said: "I extend my hearty congratulations to you and your entire team at the ISRO for the successful launch of PSLV-C29.

"Along with two micro-satellites and three nano-satellites of Singapore, PSLV-C29 is carrying Singapore's first commercial earth observatory satellite TeLEOS-1. Today's achievement demonstrates, yet again, India's increasing space capabilities."

Mukherjee asked the ISRO chief to convey his greetings to all the scientists, engineers, technologists and others associated with the "great mission".

"I wish the ISRO continued success in the coming years," the president said in a statement.
