Erode (TN): Amid the beef controversy across the country, a CPI MLA along with other party members consumed the meat while staging a demonstration against incidents like the Dadri lynching.

Police said PL Sundaram, representing Bhavanisagar Assembly constituency in the district, and party workers were taking part in a demonstration on behalf of the 'Tamil Maanila Vivasayigal Sangam' (Tamil Nadu State Agricultural Labourers Association) at Sathyamangalam on Friday.


They were protesting against the Dadri lynching and what it called attack on rights of minorities and oppressed to consume the food they want. While the demonstration was on, the MLA took out a packet and said he was consuming beef. He also distributed some pieces to demonstrators. Police maintained tight vigil during the protest which lasted an hour.
