Besides Stalin, senior leaders and former ministers Durai Murugan and I Periasamy and Organisation Secretary R S Bharathy were named in the panel by the party high command, a statement released by the party said.

DMK's allies include Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League.

The party has been facing continuous losses since the 2011 assembly elections, all at the hands of arch rival AIADMK. It had also drawn a blank in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

DMK chief M Karunanidhi's efforts to rope in Vijayakant's DMDK had failed and the actor-politician announced that his party will go alone in the polls.
