Chennai: DMK president M Karunanidhi on Thursday said his party will "encourage" the idea of floating a "strong alliance", including those not part of the present alliance to keep "communal parties" from coming to power in the next Lok Sabha polls. He was responding to reporters` queries in this regard at party headquarters Anna Arivalayam after chairing the DMK Executive. "If the secular parties you mentioned take a joint effort, we will encourage that," was his response when asked if he would try to forge a "strong alliance" involving secular parties from Tamil Nadu and those which are not presently in his party-led fold, in an apparent reference to main opposition party DMDK.
